STUDENT SAFETY

Our students' safety is of utmost importance to us and we need your help to ensure they are safe during drop off and pick up times.  You may be aware of a child being killed in the carpark of a childcare centre this week.  In light of this accident, we ask that you keep ALL children's safety at the forefront of your mind when traveling to and from school.  A few reminders about keeping our students safe as with 760 students who attend our school, that means that at every drop off and pick up there are likely to be even more children as siblings are often in attendance:

1.  When walking make sure to use the supervised crossings where possible and remind your children to

Stop – one step back from the curb, Look- continuously both ways, Listen for the sound of approaching traffic and Think whether it is safe to cross and keep checking until safely across. Research indicates that children under the age of 8 get easily distracted and should hold hands at busy crossings.

2.  If you are driving to school please plan your trip with plenty of time. At times it can be hard to find parking. Ensure you always remember to give way to pedestrians, park legally and follow all road rules to ensure the safety of our school community.

3.  Supervise your children at all times.

We appreciate your support with this matter.

CLASS ALLOCATIONS FOR 2020

The following provides information regarding 2020 class allocations;

  1. All year levels will be mixed.
  2. The allocation of teachers to classes has not been finalised and will not be confirmed until late November.
  3. Class lists will be forwarded home on Monday 16th December.

Over the coming weeks, children will be asked to list five friends they would like to be in their class next year.  We guarantee to place your child with at least one person from their list.  Please discuss this process with your child.

The composition of classes is a complex and delicate balancing act; taking into account friendships, learning styles and needs, suitability of teacher, combinations of children and a range of other factors.  Should you have a significant matter to raise in relation to class composition for next year you need to email  Megan Smith or Susan Williamson before Wednesday 13th November.  It is too late to enable changes after this date. Please note not all requests will be met, particularly in relation to requests for a preferred classroom teacher.

All matters relating to current years 2 and 3 should be directed to Susan Williamson and years 1, 4 and 5 to Megan Smith.

STUDENT ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE

A reminder, if your child is arriving late at school or being picked up early, a parent or carer must sign them in or out at the Compass kiosk located at the office.  Children are unable to sign themselves in or out.

WE WANT YOUR FEEDBACK

We are seeking parent feedback on your experience in our communication regarding your child's learning.  Please help us understand what you need by completing the survey that can be found within this newsletter.

Kind Regards

Megan
