Immigration Museum
Last Friday, the 15th of March, the Year 5s went on an excursion to the Immigration Museum. What a wonderful day it was! Our responsible cohort caught the train into the city and participated in a fantastic ‘suitcase story’ activity where they discovered some true immigration stories throughout Australia’s short immigration history. Students also completed different activities such as the dictation test as they explored the museum.
While we were in the city, we took the opportunity to see how immigration has impacted life in Australia. We noticed architecture styles and places such as China Town where pockets of migrants have brought their culture to Australia for all to experience and enjoy! We were very proud of the Year 5s as they were engaged and sensible throughout the day. We are excited to bring this experience back into the classroom as we continue with our unit of inquiry.
Thank you again to all of the amazing parents who came on the day!
