Principal's Message

School Philosophy
Orchard Grove Primary School is committed to providing a safe, nurturing environment that engages curiosity, promotes learning, personal growth and wellbeing for all students. We strive to develop adaptability and resilience so students can become valued members of the local and global communities and be prepared for future life experiences.
School Council Elections
We would like to congratulate Fiona Ross, Trevor Hookey and Kate Halford who were the successful candidates. Thank you to Carolyn Altan and Richard Trautmann for their willingness to put themselves forward. To have nominees of such calibre from our parent body is an indication of the strength of our school community and the robust nature of our community involvement and partnership.
Thank you to all who nominated and to all who voted.
Year 6 Canberra Camp
The Year 6 students left for Canberra this morning at 7.00am, just in time to battle peak hour traffic.
The Canberra camp is a marvellous opportunity for the students to get a better understanding of our political system and also to visit the War Memorial, the Geoscience Centre, Government House and the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) amongst other things.
I would like to acknowledge the staff and parents who have been willing to go on camp and spend time away from their families. It is a very rewarding experience, but it is also quite exhausting for the adults who are on duty 24 hours a day and with significant responsibility.
We will be posting messages and photos of the campers during the week on the official OGPS Facebook and look forward to hearing all about the camp when the students return.
End of Term 1
Don't forget that next Friday is the last day of term and we will be finishing school at 2.30pm. If you are unable to pick up your child at this time, please book them into TeamKids. Any children not picked up by 2.45pm will be taken to TeamKids and the cost borne by parents.
Assembly will start at 2pm and we will be drawing the Easter Raffle.
School Photos
School photos are being held on Tuesday 2nd April.
All students will be in the new uniform for the class photos; however, it is up to the individual if you would like the individual photo in the old or new uniform. Of course, the girls can wear the school dress for either photo. Please ensure that your child is wearing white, black or navy socks and that all hair ties are in school colours.
If your child will need to borrow one of the new style tops, please send them along to school that day wearing a no-collar (crew neck) t–shirt underneath their yellow OGPS shirt, so they can easily swap shirts for the photo. This is the last year old style uniform (yellow/blue) will be permitted.
Take care and talk soon.
