Partner School sharing and planning

Sharing Day
Sharing Day

In May we held a very successful MITS/Partner school sharing and planning afternoon at 364 Church Street, Richmond, MITS's newest boarding house. All Partner Schools were represented and many important learnings and practices were shared - we set goals around Cultural Safety, Transition to Partner Schools and Career Planning for MITS students. We will have follow up meetings and a second afternoon workshop in October.

The Pathways Team together with our Partner Schools are providing work experience opportunities, so that MITS Alumni can learn about different career options.

Here is Antwan, on the job at Pathways Plumbing - an all-Indigenous plumbing company who we are proud to work with.

GHD (a large consulting company with opportunities in engineering, web and graphic design, and construction), and John Janke from Rork Projects (a nationally accredited Indigenous business delivering everything from fit-outs to multi level new building projects) came and met with our students, to talk about their work experience program. We finished with a challenge to build a structure which was able to stand on its own and hold a marshmallow! (everyone was successful and the results were happily eaten!)
