Good afternoon everyone. My name is Hoanna and I’m from the Tiwi Islands in the Northern Territory.

Hi I’m Zaya and I’m from Bairnsdale in Victoria and we are the Term 2 MITS Captains. It is our great pleasure to welcome you to our home here at Lockington today.

We have all travelled some distance to join the MITS family. We bring with us a variety of cultural knowledge, experience and language.

We acknowledge the land we live and learn on, always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land. MITS is located next to a significant site, the MCG, where Wurundjeri people would gather and meet with other members of the Kulin Nation.

We understand we are on Wurundjeri land here in Richmond and pay our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from right around Australia.

We are here at MITS so that we can get a great education, be the best version of ourselves and make our families and communities proud.

This amazing opportunity would not be possible without the support from the Korin Gamadji Institute and the Richmond Football Club.

On behalf of MITS we would like to say thank you for allowing us to have our classroom at Punt Road oval and use the facilities such as the footy oval and the sports hall.

We appreciate all you do for us and love going to school every day at an AFL club. We would like to thank all the staff and players for chatting to us, playing with us and allowing us to achieve our dreams.

We hope you enjoy lunch, the Bunjil awards and spending some time here at our home away from home here in Richmond. If you haven’t had a tour of the boarding house any of us are happy to show you around.
