Maths around the Classrooms

Someone who has been getting himself into mischief since many of our staff and parents were kids is Mr Bean! Our students love the modern version of this show which is animated.

Year 3/4 students used this interest in completing a recent Maths session in Statistics and Probability.  Students watched an episode of the show, the whole time keeping a data table up to date. They selected categories to keep track of, counting how many times an event occurred. These included things such as how many times they saw a certain character, how many times Mr Bean spoke or even how many times he got in trouble (which happens a lot as we know!) Students were then able to take this data and create some excellent bar graphs to show their findings. Students focused on skills such as using appropriate scale, neat measured lines and correct labels for their axis. Have a look at a few below!
