Hands-on Learning

Hands-on Learning Build students donated three Bee Hotels this week to community gardens based in the City of Hume.  Students from Rooms 22, 24 and 27 used their carpentry skills to build the Bee Hotels.   Bee Hotels aim to attract and provide a home for native bees so they can pollinate and enrich the community gardens.  Maria Callipari, Community Development Officer at the City of Hume, visited JSA to collect the Bee Hotels which will soon be installed in Community Gardens in Westmeadows, Craigieburn and Roxburgh Park.

Health and PE

SEDA College students will be visiting Jacana over the next few weeks.

They will be running different sports clinics for our students such as AFL Football, Soccer, Cricket and Basketball.

On Thursday 28th July the Senior School classes will have the opportunity to take part in these sporting clinics. The following week, Thursday 4th of August, our Primary Students will have their chance to experience different ball sports on Playground 1.

SEDA College has had a positive relationship with JSA over the last few years where they have volunteered their time to help out and encourage our students to get fit and active. Unfortunately, they were only able to visit once in 2021 due to Covid lockdowns, but Andrew Browne of SEDA has said in the past that his students have greatly enjoyed their experiences of Jacana and are very much looking forward to helping out over the next few weeks.
