Cross Stitch

This term, the grade sixes have been cross-stitching their very own bookmarks! It has been a real challenge to separate the threads and thread it through the eye of our needles. Everyone has been working hard to learn from the few of us who have cross-stitched before. Here are some of our works in progress:

Scale Solar System

In the past few weeks, the grade sixes have been scaling down our solar system! We are working in pairs to find a scale that fits in our maths book. We faced some challenges when it came to the sun though. Our teachers gave us three options:
- Include the sun
- Don’t include the sun
- Draw the sun on the asphalt outside
Most groups chose not to include the sun because it would have been too big, but one group made their sun out of big poster paper:
Then we had to find a good scale for the distance of the planets from the sun.
Book Review - Mao's Last Dancer

Throughout Term 2 we read Mao’s Last Dancer By Li Cunxin. Every week we would read a couple of chapters and we always enjoyed the book. We would answer comprehension questions after reading the chapters and usually added champion words (any words we didn’t know or long words) to our word wall.
Personally I enjoyed the book and really loved the story of Li’s life in dancing and the true meaning of determination. I recommend this book to anyone who loves dancing, hard work and a great relationship between family and career. I rate this book a solid five stars and I truly think that anyone should give it a go.
4-6 Concert Update

This week, the grade sixes have started preparing for next term’s concert. We have divided up into groups that focus on different aspects of the preparation. We have a group working on the virtual background, a group looking at 90’s costumes that are appropriate to wear, there is a group choreographing dance moves and, of course, a group that is making sure and changing words that we probably shouldn’t sing.
