Bees & Ants

The Bee and Ant groups stayed warm in the last week of Term 2 by coming to Kinder in their pyjamas! The children enjoyed a special breakfast at Kinder. Children’s developing awareness of community was seen in the way they helped each other pour milk on their cereal, and their enjoyment in sharing breakfast with their friends. Some children tried new food because a friend said it was yummy! Children were able to spread their own toppings on pancakes and toast. We learn in the Bible that sharing a meal with others is a primary way that relationships are established, deepened and enjoyed.

Wombats Colour Day

The Wombat groups have enjoyed a colourful end to Term 2. Children have come to kinder dressed in their favourite colours, and made (and ate!) some colourful food! We have explored colours through finger painting, collage, parachute games, sorting activities and playing with coloured balls. We also noticed that we are all different, and have different favourite colours. We know that God made us all different and special. Some children shared their observation that sometimes people speak different languages. We talked about some different languages including Auslan, and have started learning to do some Auslan signs with favourite songs.

Wednesday & Friday Wombats

The Wombats have been learning that trees grow from seeds. Their interest in seeds arose from the introduction of Asian fruits that they were able to taste test at Kinder. The Bible story of the sower and the seeds explains the importance of roots anchoring trees to the ground. The children have been learning to care for and respect our environment. After watching the video clip about of the story "Leaf Man", we made pictures with leaves and twigs picked from the Kinder yard. The children used their imagination to create their pictures. From the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, the children have been learning numbers, height and size. They also learn about their world through storytelling and Adults' scaffolding.
