Girls Soccer

On Tuesday the 19th of July, 12 girls from Year 5 and 6  competed in the Western Ranges Division soccer. When we arrived at Bacchus Marsh soccer field, we were pumped and ready to go.

We did a quick warm up before our first game and then it was time to go on the field. Our first game was against Wedge Park Primary School. Macy was our Goal keeper and in the first half of the game, the team did their best keeping the ball up the other end of the ground. We kept the scores tied 0-0 the whole first half. In the second half Tiana was our goalie. It was going really well until we started getting tired towards the end of the game. Unfortunately Wedge Park Primary scored a goal. We tried our best to get the scores even again but it was no use. Our team was working together really well but the other team was really strong and kept getting the ball. Our defence players were doing really well helping Tiana defend the goal, but in the end we lost the game 0-1.

In the second game we were versing  Melton Christian College. Macy was our goalie for the whole game and it was 0-0 until a girl on the other team scored a goal in the last 3 minutes. We all tried really hard to score another goal but we just couldn't catch up. Then someone on our team scored a goal but it didn't count because of the rule called "off side". At the time when that happened no one from our team knew about the rule because the round before when we won the grand final that rule did not apply.

In our last game it was all about defence. Tiana was our main goalie.  We did our best like always but we unfortunately lost 0 to 6.  In the first 15-minute half our  opponents had scored 3 and we had scored 0, in the second half they had scored another three. But at the end of the day we tried our hardest. We worked as a team, got a day off school and had lots of fun.

In conclusion, on behalf of the Holy Cross girls soccer team, we would love to thank Sian Leighton for being our coach and Lisa Peake for also being our coach in the first round. Thanks also to Leonie for organising everything and students' parents for helping with the lifts, the support and encouragement during the day.
