Aoife's Message

Dear Families,

Term 3 has started off at a cracking pace with incursions, sports events and celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation taking place in the first two weeks of term. See below for some general updates. We're looking forward to another productive and engaging term at Holy Cross!

Sacrament of Confirmation

Congratulations to our Year Six children who celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation last weekend. It was lovely to gather together in faith as a Parish community with families and staff present to support our children. Thank you to Lisa Peake for preparing the ceremonies and in supporting the children in class. Sincere thanks also to Fr Vin who led both ceremonies as Bishop Terry was unwell.

Prep 2023 Enrolment

We met with many of our current families and children over the last two weeks. We're excited to have younger siblings join their brothers and sisters at Holy Cross next year. If your family or friends have yet to submit an enrolment form please encourage them to do so ASAP. Enrolments are open for all year levels for 2023.

Parent/Teacher chats - Term 3

Parent/teacher chats will be held on Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th July. This is an opportunity for parents and teachers to discuss your child’s growth and to discuss ‘where to next’ for Semester Two. There is also more information about making a booking on another page in this newsletter. We encourage all families to book in for a chat so that we can partner together for our children.

Reminder: School Closure days - Term 3

We will have two school closure days in Term 3. On both days staff will be given the opportunity to engage in professional learning in the area of Mathematics. This is in alignment with our School Improvement Plan 2022-2025. Staff will be challenged to enter into new learning experiences in maths. They will then apply this knowledge to practice, followed by analysing the impact of their teaching through data informed reflection.

We have set the dates as:

Friday 12th August

Friday 16th September

Pie Drive

Thank you to our PFA team for organising a pie drive to fundraise for some sport equipment. We appreciate the support of families in making this drive a successful event.

Girls Soccer

I had the pleasure of paying a quick visit to our girls soccer team as they competed at Bacchus March this week. They represented our school beautifully and despite losing the matches, they displayed excellent sportsmanship.

Recently I've been inundated with visitors to my office, children coming to share an achievement, a piece of writing or to share a good news story. I feel privileged to share in these moments of joy with our children, this is partly what drives my passion for ensuring that children are at the centre of all that we do. Placing the children at the centre takes dedicated staff and supportive families, which we have in abundance at Holy Cross. Thank you.

Have a lovely winter's weekend.
