MWLP Student Placement Awards
The MWLP (Linking Youth to Business, Careers and Opportunity) Student Placement Awards are a result of nominations sought from host employers who consistently make available their workplaces and expertise to support students in real-life workplace experiences through numerous Vocational Educational and Training frameworks.
The nominees and award recipients have been consistently characterised by employers as diligent in their efforts, respectful, motivated, genuinely interested in the vocation, well-rounded and very capable.
We are absolutely delighted to announce that Bilal is a recipient of the 2021 Student Placement Awards.
Congratulations Bilal!
A few words from Bilal
MWLP is a not-for-profit organisation focused on engaging a community of stakeholders to support youth in their personal and professional career development.
MWLP assists young people make a successful transition from school to work. They do this by connecting the incredibly important space between schools and the wider world, including business, industry, training organisations, parents and families, three tiers of Government and the broader community. Their work focuses on preparing young people for the world of work, nurturing aspiration, career management and entrepreneurialism, whilst simultaneously addressing the ongoing needs of business.
As part of my EVET course at TAFE (Networking and Hardware) I was required to do work experience. My work experience placement was with Getmilk: Web Design Company. Getmilk is an Australian Company specialising in web design, web development and digital marketing support services.
GetMilk nominated me for this award for being focused, diligent, prompt and engaged with what they were doing. I was able to complete my tasks ahead of time and accomplished more than their expectation. I was able to fit in with their organisation culture both technically and socially.
This Award recognises students who were placed in work experience and excelled in their time there. The process was quite involved. Following the nomination, an assessment selects the finalist. The finalists are interviewed in detail to understand how the work experience benefitted them. Finally, a winner was selected from the shortlist of finalists.
I am appreciative of the opportunity provided to me to do my work experience with an excellent company with leading technical aspects and a great social culture. I am also humbled and thankful for the recognition of my efforts through this award.

Year 12 Fast Forward
Our Year 12 Fast Forward students recently attended an interactive virtual conference which provided them with the opportunity to select sessions and connect with a wide range of education and industry professionals to further explore their preferred career options.
During the conference, all students from participating schools were asked to return to their main webinar link and to evaluate the program for a prize draw.
Congratulations to Siosifa Feiloaki on being selected as the major prize winner! Siosifa completed his conference evaluation and won an iPad.
Thank you Losana Ravulo, WSU Fast Forward Project Officer for your continued support in organising and delivering beneficial programs to all our Fast Forward students.

Students complete White Card training
In Week 8 this term, 37 students from Year 10 and Year 11 successfully completed white card training and this will enable them to work within the construction industry.
Year 10 students will seek work experience opportunities in this area while Year 11 students will complete work placement as part of their VET Construction course.
Students participated in over six hours of safety regulations delivered at school by Coastal OHS Services that form part of working safely within the construction industry.
