Great Teaching and Learning with Year 10

Year 10 Geography excursion

On Wednesday 3 March, I was lucky enough to tag along to the Year 10 Geography Cronulla excursion. It was an extremely well organised day and a fantastic learning experience for the students, with a bit of fun thrown in too. The students were

very well behaved, however, from the furthest point away in the sand dunes, I could still hear the relentless chatter of one particular Year 10 boy. Thanks to Mrs Adams, Mr Collins, Ms Sahid, Mrs Truong and Mrs Scamardella for a great day.

Year 10 Sydney Jewish Museum Excursion

On Monday 22 March,  together with staff from the History faculty,  I accompanied Year 10 on an excursion to the Sydney Jewish Museum.  It was a fantastic learning experience for the students and for myself. We were treated to guided tours in small groups, we had a tutorial with question time and then we heard from a Holocaust survivor.

Students were extremely well behaved and a great day was had by all, despite the torrential rain that we battled on our short trip from the museum to the bus. Thanks to Ms Ishak for her excellent organisation and to Mr Griffiths, Ms Haskett and Mr Leng for doing a great job with the students on the day.

Year 10 Elective classes

Each Friday I have been visiting electives to see staff and students. On Friday, 12 March, Mr Collins (Year 10 Adviser) and I were treated to a pizza tasting in Ms Petrovska’s Food Tech class. What a culinary treat it was. My pick for best-tasting pizza is the Sujuk Pizza - pictured below. Our pick for best-presented pizza is the Healthy Snack Pack Pizza also pictured below.  It is great to visit classrooms and see the students so engaged and extremely proud of what they are achieving in class. Well done and thanks to Ms Petrovska.
