South Cares supports Cecil students

Souths Cares Mentoring Program

This year the South Cares Aboriginal Mentoring program has successfully returned to Cecil Hills High School.  Souths Cares is an Aboriginal Educational mentoring group that is a part of the South Sydney Rabbitohs Rugby League Club.  South Cares is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting families and communities with educational training and support.

Our program is headed by Rugby Leagues legend and former Penrith Panthers/South Sydney Rabbitoh great and State of Origin player, Rhys  Wesser.  Rhys met with our Aboriginal students once a week in the Yarn room.  From there, after a late lunch, students worked together setting their leaning goals whilst discussing culture and heritage.  Rhys also assisted students with homework and assessments.

This term, students were lucky to receive care packages from the South Cares team, consisting of essential items to assist our students with their wellbeing and studies.

Cecil Hills High School is honoured to be taking part in such a great community program that supports our Aboriginal students in continuing to be successful and responsible students across all areas of their learning.
