Our newest high school students

Year 7 has made a fantastic start to their high school journey with their impressive standard of behaviour and commitment to their learning. We have enjoyed seeing their enthusiasm towards all of their classes as well as their impressive achievement in our school swimming carnival and best start tests.

Meet and Greet BBQ

On Monday 22 February, Year 7 parents and teachers met for the annual 'Meet and Greet BBQ’. This was an opportunity for parents to meet their child's classroom teachers and discuss how their child has been settling in at school. It was great to see so many families attending the first of what we hope to be many future events within the community.

Year 7 Book Club

Year 7 also received a free book as part of our “Year 7 Book Club” reading initiative. Every student in Year 7 was given a wrapped book they could open during their connect class to read every Friday morning during connect. They were then able to swap their book with a peer if they wished as part of a book exchange. This initiative is to foster a love of reading among Year 7 whilst also developing their comprehension and literacy skills.

The term so far

This term has also seen Year 7 connect classes run the fortnightly year meetings. Each Connect class will have a chance to run a year meeting this year. Students organise information presented, edit the PowerPoint and present key information to their year group. So far we have had three Connect classes run assemblies and all students have done an amazing job!

Student feedback

So far Year 7 has begun with a stable start, when we were first introduced into our high school experience it was easy to settle into, thanks to our teachers and year advisers, Miss Preston and Miss Fagan. With that help we have gotten used to our high school, classes, teachers and peers. High school so far has let us experience many different things like, our swimming carnival, our valentines fundraiser and plenty of sport/interests opportunities to participate in, such as basketball, dance, soccer, art, volleyball and swimming. In conclusion we have learnt a lot of things, made a lot of friends and made new relationships with teachers.    Lourdes Wakim & Sara Drmic

Year 7 has been an amazing experience so far. All the teachers are very nice and they have helped us settle in well. The year advisers are kind and always willing to help whenever it is needed. It is good having different teachers for different subjects as they know a lot more about their specific subjects that they teach. The swimming carnival helped us make new friends and bond with other students, it was also very fun. Another event we had was the parent teacher BBQ. It let our parents meet our teachers and put a name to a face. We have had an amazing time so far in high school and we hope it will stay that way through to year 12.  by Chloe Dempsey and Ilayda Basak.

We are incredibly proud of Year 7 and can't wait to see what this year has in store for them.
