Co-curricular - Junior Sport
Well, that was not the start we were hoping for this summer season. The weather certainly put a dampener on the start of the summer season, with all outdoor venues cancelled due to rain. Congratulations to all the Basketball teams that managed to get on court last Saturday, for your flexibility in adjusting to changes in venues and your efforts on the courts. Hopefully the weather stays clear this weekend and all Junior teams will be able play.
Monday 22 February sees the Junior School travel out to Auburn Aquatic Centre for the annual House Swimming Carnival. All boys will travel to and from the pool via the buses supplied by the College. Buses will aim to leave from 8.30am to allow a 9.00am start at Auburn. Parents may collect their son(s) from the pool at the conclusion of the carnival. Please supply your son’s teacher(s) with a note in this regard.
Auburn pool will currently allow one (1) parent per student to attend the pool. A small entrance fee applies. Parents are asked to stay on the available benches on the side of the pool opposite the grandstand. Boys are unable to visit parents during the carnival. While there is a canteen at the pools, parents are asked to not buy food for their sons on the day. Cheering and war cries are currently not permitted, however we are still anticipating a very exciting atmosphere. As you will appreciate, the situation we currently face is very fluid. I will update families (via Teams app) and the boys of any changes in procedures for the day.
With the season of Lent starting today, the boys in the Junior School will commence their Lenten fundraising. Junior School fundraising for Lent coincides with our Cross Country Carnival, sometimes referred to as the Fun Run. Boys are asked to get sponsored for their run; the money raised going towards our Lenten partners. All fundraising is completed online, so no money is brought to school and boys will be able to select a prize for their efforts. A pamphlet will be sent home later this week with instructions on how to create a profile for online fundraising. The fundraising will culminate on Tuesday 16 March when boys compete in the Cross Country Carnival.
