House and Age Swimming Championships
The 77th Annual Swimming House and Age Championships took place at the Sydney International Aquatic Centre, Homebush last Friday. Through a combination of outstanding swimming and excellent rates of participation, we congratulate the Coghlan House on their 2-point victory over Hickey to claim back-to-back wins.
The senior students were outstanding, with the Year 12 students leading the way with their House spirit and amazing costumes. Particular mention must go to the six House Prefects for their excellent leadership on the day. Given there was no cheering/chanting allowed due to COVID-19 restrictions, the boys did a fantastic job in creating plenty of atmosphere.
Well done to the below students who were crowned Age Champions. We also congratulate Jack Taylor for setting a new College record with a time of 26.25sec in the 14 years 50m Freestyle (old record stood at 26.60sec).

ISA Representatives
Congratulations to Joseph Kordahi (Year 11) who recently gained selection in the ISA 1st V Basketball team. I wish to also make special mention of Hayden Ling (Year 11) and James Kordahi (Year 10) who have been selected as shadow player for the ISA 2nd V Basketball team.
Congratulations – A Rising Cricket Star
Late last week, Archer Gray (Year 10) was named in the 2020/21 AW Green Shield Cricket Merit XII Team of the Year. Regarded as the strongest junior club competition in the world, the AW Green Shield is NSW Premier Cricket’s U/16 competition.
Many NSW and Australian players have emerged from this competition in the past including Steven Smith, David Warner, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Stephen O’Keefe, Kurtis Patterson and Sean Abbott.
Playing for Western Suburbs, Archer’s statistics this season made him the third best bowler in the competition taking 15 wickets (best outing being an impressive 4/39).
Well done Archie!
Expressions of Interest for Coaching and Refereeing Positions
Anyone interested in coaching a Football, Rugby or Tennis team this winter season or refereeing either Football or Rugby for the College, please contact Anthony Calavassy, Head of Sport by phone: 9763 1000 or email: anthony.calavassy@spc.nsw.edu.au.
Mouthguard Special Offer
As you know, winter sport trials commence in Week 8 of this term and a mouthguard is a piece of mandatory equipment for all Rugby and AFL Players here at the College.
The College has been approached by Old Boy Michael Ianniello who is generously providing the following offer to SPC families.
Should sufficient interest be registered, 'Shield Mouthguards' will be coming to the College to do fittings for impressions on Wednesday 24 February and Thursday 25 February from 3.10pm – 5.00pm on both days. This gives families the opportunity to get the best type of protection without the trouble of organising a visit to their dental clinic for a fitting. Please note if you would prefer to have the fitting done in their clinic at Leichhardt, the same deal applies.
Should you like to proceed with taking up this great offer, I would ask that you please email David Dunne, Assistant Head of Sport (david.dunne@spc.nsw.edu.au) your son’s full name and Year group by no later than 3.00pm on Monday 22 February.
