Health & Physical Education

Foundation: Our Foundation students have continued to focus on the concepts involved with the bodies Fundamental movements. This was achieved through a lesson involving a Perceptual Motor Programme. The students participated in seven different stations that exposed them to balance, bouncing, rolling, and crawling through an obstacle course and ring tossing. In week two of this block, the students participated in a lesson that focused on their hand/eye coordination. They were tasked with tapping, punching head-butting a balloon to their partner. When then scaffolding their learning and incorporated tennis nets for the students to tap the balloon over to their partner.

The foundation students also completed their first Portfolio task that exposed them to different parts of the human body. They were tasked with colour coding and labelling the body’s different parts.

Level 1: Level 1 students began their fortnight with a Yoga lesson. The aim of this was to teach them the importance of controlling their bodies through different ranges of movements.

Their second lesson involved completing a Portfolio task that taught them the importance the Indigenous culture has playing in our sporting World. They were tasked with colouring in the Aboriginal flag correct, labelling the different sections to highlight what they represented and listing different Indigenous athletes and games.

Level 2: Level 3 & 4 students have completed their three-week Gymnastics Sporting Schools program. Throughout the program the students participated in a variety of obstacle courses that tested their balance, tumble rolling, strength and coordination. As a school we can be very proud of the level or respect, responsibility and resilience each student demonstrated during the sessions.

Level 5 & 6: Level 5 & 6 students moved on to the unit which involved striking. To accomplish this, we utilised the game T-Ball. First students practised both the striking technique with a partner who would field the ball. Once students were comfortable we moved into a game of T-Ball where students had the opportunity to put the learned skills into practise. It was very pleasing to see the development of students of the two weeks.

Our 5/6 students also completed their first portfolio task which taught them about the importance of living a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Students were tasked with mapping out a day in their life which broke down elements such as exercise, emotions, time and food intake.

Division Swimming: Seventeen students represented our school at the Division Swimming Carnival at Croydon Outdoor Pool on 03/03/21.
