Swimming

The annual Glenelg Division(GD) Swimming Sports is being held on Friday 19th February at the Portland Swimming Complex. A full report on the day from the Swimming Captains will appear in next week’s edition of the newsletter. We are still hoping that the ICCES Swimming carnival will go ahead at MSAC in Melbourne on Tuesday 2 March, if so the team will be announced early next week.

Basketball Report

It was great to see our students back out on the basketball courts last week up at HILAC in the various junior competitions. We have 18 junior teams competing in this term one season. All players by now should know when they are training and attendance is vital for team functionality, improvement, enjoyment and success.

Those students wanting to play in the longer winter season should let me know when I ask for interest later in Term. The HBA is also asking for senior team entries so students who are considering playing senior basketball should email me by Monday 22 February at the absolute latest to discuss options. NB senior team entries are likely to look different this year with the introduction of the 18 and under division.

Football report

If your son or daughter are looking to play football this year I encourage them to play at the highest level in the western part of Victoria and that competition is the Hampden League encompassing playing  against teams mainly based in and surrounding Warrnambool as well as some other bigger towns within the district. The Hamilton Kangaroos have teams that have started training or are about to so if your child is interested in trying out to play they should attend all or some of the training sessions at the following times at the main ground in town – Melville Oval:

Under 18’s – Monday and Wednesday from 5.30-7.00pm

Under 16’s – Monday’s from 4.30-5.30pm

Under 14’s – Wednesday’s from 4.14-5.30pm

Girls Youth team – still to be confirmed

If you require more information please contact myself or our 2021 Football Captains, Magnus Howells and Mitzi Adamson.

Netball – Saturday 20 February

We have been advised that netball will go ahead on Saturday. Please check the updated draw that is attached to the newsletter or alternatively check the Hamilton Netball Association Facebook page for any urgent updates and draws. Umpires need to bring their own whistle, and please be aware that you need to collect and return the score sheets to the office. For those of you who have volunteered for a manager’s role please arrive 15 minutes prior to your game time for a quick briefing.

Social distancing guidelines must be adhered to and there will be special entrances and exits used on the day of games.  Please bring a mask. Signing in may also need to be completed.

I look forward to seeing everybody at the game this weekend.
