Welcome our new Head of Macdonald House

I would like to welcome Abbie Cameron as our Head of Macdonald House for 2021. Abbie is of course an experienced MOD of Macdonald House, a mother of two wonderful children at our Myrniong campus, and is currently studying her Masters of Education. Abbie is a natural fit for this role and will serve all of our girls, and the College, in her caring and professional approach to pastoral care.

Lunar New Year – a touch of red.

The Year of the Ox was celebrated in a unique way this year. Boarders, Dominic Wong and Justin Lee lead all boarders with a quick Chinese language course to say Happy New Year. Much appreciation goes to Ms Liu and Mr and Mrs Cameron for all their hard work in making this celebration of the Lunar New Year one to remember.

Living through service

In celebrating Shrove Tuesday, our boarders sacrificed their own time to give to others. Boarders looked after Myrniong students whilst parents attended an Junior School information afternoon. Alexa Balog (Yr11) was one of the boarders who gave up her time, and wrote a reflection of the experience below.

“While parents attended an information afternoon, a team of boarders supervised their children who couldn’t attend the classroom sessions due to indoor COVID restrictions. We organised various games for them to play while on the courts behind Macdonald House. It was a hot afternoon until the storm clouds rolled in. We had to move under the shelter before it started to rain. Under the shelter we organised a Seniors vs Juniors soccer match. The competition was heated and the juniors students gave us a run for our money with their impressive kicking and footwork skills. A massive thank you to Mrs Povey, Mr Monk, Mr Nelson and all the boarders who helped out.
