Music antics - ANZAC Day

The Music Department Antics!

We have had a fantastic come back this year after spending much of last year in lockdown. The online music classes were challenging and we, as music teachers, found ways to make it work under the unusual circumstances. Now that we are back at school, we’ve been able to put on a few live performances so far and there will be some more performances taking place soon.

I think we can all agree that Alexis and Jack's performance of “Creep” at our first school assembly was a smashing success and a highlight of the talent that we are lucky enough to have at our school.

Our Year 7 BBQ performances were absolutely astounding and we were so happy that our students were able to perform the day before the 5 day Lockdown was announced. The atmosphere of the concert on the night in the canteen area was a great “vibe” as Mr Ferrier called it!

We have a surprise for you for the Leadership Assembly this coming Monday 15th March. It will symbolise bringing our Year 7 Cohort together with our Year 12s as a show of what true leadership and mentorship looks like. It’s all about extending an arm to help the new ones up along the way.

Anzac Day Assembly

We are so very lucky to have been able to secure an excellent trumpet player for our Anzac Assembly to perform The Last Post for our ANZAC Day ceremony. Steven Grant is an esteemed member of the Melbourne Musicians scene and has studied here and in New York.

Despite the effect that COVID has had on the ability to rehearse our ensembles, the Choir and Senior Concert band will also be performing.

Here’s to our musical journey here at Chelt!!
