Senior VCAL Profile

Adam Saward – SBAT (Warehousing)

Adam is a Senior Year 12 VCAL student who is following his passion of working in warehousing and logistics.  In his Intermediate year of VCAL, Adam approached Reece Plumbing in Clayton for the opportunity of taking on a School based Apprenticeship and Traineeship. He is now ten months into the program and at the end of the year, if Reece is agreeable, Adam will have a permanent position at the company. While working at the Clayton facility Adam has had the opportunity to learn all aspects of warehousing and he is specialising in HVAC, which is the area of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning. While undertaking the SBAT program Adam is under the auspices of the Murray Valley Training Group and Adam has already completed 10 of the 15 modules required to gain his qualification, a Certificate 111 in Warehousing. Adam feels that his greatest achievement has been the increase in confidence he has developed in the customer service component of his job. Adam loves the fact that he is working with a well-established family run business, (Reece celebrates its 100th birthday later this month), which has facilities in New Zealand and more recently America, after having taking over the Morsco plumbing chain. This will give Adam the opportunity to work interstate or even overseas. Adam thoroughly enjoys the warehousing industry, and Mazenod College would like to thank all the employees of Reece who are providing Adam with the skills, advice and guidance that is required in warehousing and logistics. In particular we would like to thank Belinda who is Adam’s immediate supervisor, for the mentoring and support that Adam has received.  We wish Adam all the best for his future and for his final year in VCAL.

(An SBAT offers a student to the opportunity of paid employment, with the ability of completing Year 12, while undertaking an apprenticeship or traineeship. If any student is interested in participating in a similar program please see Mr Leigh Harris, Coordinator of VET and VCAL)
