Blast from the Past…
May 1967 - Students Visit American Navy Ship
The first Mazenod College school excursion was a trip to the US Navy ship “USS Canberra”, a guided missile cruiser involved in the Cuban missile crisis and Vietnam War. Some of the highlights of the visit included students getting free drinks and cakes in the crewmen’s mess as well as being presented with a monogrammed drinking mug as a souvenir. Unfortunately, this drinking mug cannot be located, so if anyone knows its whereabouts, please contact the Mazenod College Archives at: archives@mazenod.vic.edu.au
