ACC ATHLETICS TRAINING
After another outstanding carnival and many great individual efforts, students have been invited to train for the upcoming ACC Athletics Carnival. Students received a letter in the roll and are expected to train. Students who did not receive a letter are also welcome to train as the letters were based off the house Athletics and some students may have missed events etc. Training is Monday night after school at Ross Reserve starting at 2:45pm. A bus will leave Mazenod at 2:30pm and return at 3:40pm. Students are permitted to leave from the track to Noble Park Station.

ACC SWIMMING
Last Thursday night 26 Mazenod Swimmers represented the College at the ACC Carnival at MSAC. Each and every one of them should feel very proud of the way they performed with many PB times over the night. It is also worth noting that we had only 2 Year 12 students swim. Our leaders Ned Charlton and Lance de Vera swam 13 events between them which is a very high amount for any swimmer. Both boys were outstanding winning 2 of them and finishing 2nd place in another 8 of the 13 events. Mazenod finished a credible 4th in Division 2. This may look disappointing on face value but we also swam and number of students in higher levels and gave everyone in the squad a swim as we invest in the future years. We finished only 8 points off second and we believe the experience of this year will help our young swimmers in years to come. We congratulate Salesian on winning the Division 2 Cup and St Bede’s for the Division Champions.
On the night we had 7 first place finishes, 14 second placings and 6 third. I would like to congratulate the following students on winning their individual races.
Lance De Vera – 50m Butterfly & Backstroke
Ryan Oh – 50m Freestyle & Butterfly
Conrad Van Ravenstein – 50m Butterfly & Breastroke
Aaron Nguyen – 50m Backstroke
Ned Charlton had 4 second place finishes.
On behalf of the team I would like to thank Mr Kevin Nguyen and Mr Mike Pearson who have coached the boys over the season. The swimmers and coaches deserve a lot of respect for the keenness to train at 7am 3 mornings a week, and this includes the parents who drop them off. To celebrate these efforts the College is inviting all swimmers and parents to a hot cooked breakfast on Thursday 26th March at Mazenod College cafeteria from 7:45am. Invitations are being handed out this week.
