Term 2
Welcome back to the start of Term Two! We are looking forward to adapting to the changing world around us and accelerating our digital technology skills as we continue our home learning.
Religious Education
Students will be exploring the Easter story and its significance in our lives today. They will also continue to explore their own faith journey and make connections to the place of sacraments and scripture in their lives. We will explore the Sacrament of Confirmation and the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit.
English
This term, the senior students will look to develop their reading, speaking, listening and writing skills through a variety of activities. Our literacy rotation activities will continue this term to develop the students inferential meaning and evaluative comprehension and reflection skills.
In writing, students will explore persuasive texts and the devices that authors use to persuade us of a particular point of view. Following this, students will investigate different styles of descriptive writing and how these can be used to create a visual image in the readers’ mind.
Mathematics
The following curriculum will be taught this term:
Number and Algebra: Fractions
Statistics and Probability: Data
Number & Algebra: Pattern and Algebra
Measurement & Geometry: 2D shapes and their properties, 3D objects' properties and angles
Inquiry
Our second term inquiry unit is titled “Our future is shaped from BELONGing to the past.”
It will have a strong history focus where students will be investigating events that were happening in Australia before Federation. Following this, they will investigate the impact Federation had on different cultural groups within Australia and the significance of key figures and events that led to Australia’s Federation, including British and American influences on Australia’s system of law and government.
Health and Physical Education
This term students will take part in a variety of physical activities that they can do at home. These can be found on our home learning site.
Activities include:
- Ball skills
- Cardio Fitness
- Dance
- Circuit training
It’s really important that students continue to have opportunities to be physically active during this time.
Social Emotional Learning
This term in SEL our 5/6 students will learn to recognise and name their own positive strengths. They will suggest and identify coping strategies in stressful events and identifying stress management strategies that they can use.
Communication
