Term 2

Welcome parents and families to Term 2! Below is an outline of the content for this term. We are very grateful for the amazing support and patience families have shown so far as we all do our best to adjust to learning from home. We can already see the improvement in how our students are adapting to remote learning and its challenges. We know students will continue to become more comfortable with this new style of learning and aim to ensure Term 2 is a successful and positive learning experience for all. 

 

Religious Education

In RE we will examine The Easter Season. Students will explain the relationship between God, Jesus and Spirit as expressed in the New Testament

interpret the Christian understanding of God's loving forgiveness through the story of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection

Reflect on the importance of forgiveness and reconciliation, nationally, communally and personally

 

English

Reading - Weekly Literacy rotations including Reading Eggspress, Teacher Focus lessons and Grammar activities.

Writing - Persuasive & Narrative writing lessons twice weekly. 

Spelling - SMART spelling, 4 days a week. 

Handwriting - Complete two pages of your handwriting book each week with application towards letter formation for best effort.

 

Mathematics

  • Fractions - Model, count and represent fractions on a number line including improper fractions. Investigate equivalent   fractions and compare and order fractions according to value.
  • Two Dimensional Shapes and Angles - Compare and describe two dimensional shapes (polygons) using properties including the measurement of interior and exterior angles in degrees.
  • Multiplication - Recall multiplication facts up to 10 X10. Develop efficient mental and written strategies for multiplication where there is no reminder. Understand the relationship between multiplication and division.
  • Time - Practise telling the time in analogue and digital format and introduce 24 hour time.  Estimate and calculate the time required to perform tasks. Solve problems involving timelines and timetables including elapsed time.

 

Health & Physical Education 

We encourage all students to make sure they are incorporating a minimum of 30 minutes per day of physical exercise into their daily routine. It is vital that students are having the chance to be active during this time for the benefit of their physical health and overall wellbeing. 

 

Inquiry

In Inquiry learning we will be examining significant key events of early Australian history, including: 

  • Who were Australia’s first occupants?
  • Who were Australia’s early explorers?
  • What was the significance of the First Fleet?
  • What were the consequences of early European settlement?

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

This term in SEL our 3/4 students will be exploring the links between their emotions and behaviour. Students will learn to recognise and name their own strengths, identify coping strategies in stressful events and identify stress management strategies that they can use.

Effective communication between family and school is an important factor in students’ learning. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions, comments or concerns.
