For parent led lesson see below:

Welcome back to music this term.  We will be learning about The Orchestra.  Before we start, here are some questions to think about:

  • What is an orchestra?
  • What instruments might you see in an orchestra?
  • Who controls an orchestra and how?

Watch George meets the Orchestra - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0Jc4sP0BEE&t=294s

Now ask yourself the same questions and see if your answers are different

  • What is an orchestra?
  • What instruments did you recognise in an orchestra?
  • Who controls the orchestra, how and why?
  • When you listened to the instruments how did it make you feel?

Sit back and relax and watch the Orchestra perform John Williams, Star Wars Suite.

Grade 1- Bollywood Dance

In today's lesson we'll be finishing off our work on our Bollywood dance.

You'll need to be able to use Youtube, and to be ready to come up with some creative dance ideas of your own!

Parents: Don't worry too much if your child(ren) make mistakes doing the dace, just encourage them to have fun and have a go at creating their own moves.

Task 1: Do the 'Making a Pizza' warm-up routine to stretch your body and get it ready to move.

(Sitting with your legs wide apart, roll and knead the dough before reaching to the sides to add your toppings. Don't forget tomato paste and cheese, as well as two of your own toppings. Then do a final stretch to put your pizza in the oven!)

Task 2: Have a couple of practices of the moves we learned together. (I've attached a sheet with all the moves listed on it to help you: see below). See if you can perform the routine without looking at the sheet once you've had a couple of practices. Also, go through the moves and see the dance with these links:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFDszZgHuxE (Re-cap on the moves)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NkxtoDj_d4 (See me do the dance!)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPvPUk96vb0&feature=youtu.be (Here's the music)

Task 3:  Now you need to get creative! Come up with 3-4 moves of your own to add to the routine and finish off the dance. Practice this a few times before going to the next task.

Task 4: Your final performance! Ask your family to be your audience. Maybe you can find some bright clothes to wear, or even some jewelry, for your performance.  If possible, ask someone at home to record your performance on a phone or i-pad. Have fun!

Grade 2- Story Building Using Fairy Tales

In today's lesson we'll be focusing on the Story of Jack and the Beanstalk.

You'll need to access to the internet to watch the story, as well as paper/notebook and pencils (grey lead and coloured) to do your work.

Task 1: Click on the link to listen to the story of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaAjwt5pJUU

Task 2: Make a story board (like a comic strip; see the example below) showing the key points of the story… you should be able to do this in about 7 or 8 points.

E.g: 1: Jack and his Mum are very poor.

2: Jack sells the cow for some magic beans.

3: Jack’s mum is angry and throws the beans out of the window.

Tip: Write all your key points out first before beginning your storyboard.

(Parents: You may need to support your child while they list the key points of the story to include in their storyboard.)

You’ll need your completed story board for next week’s lesson.

Grade 3- Monologues

For today's lesson, you're going to need access to the internet, paper or a notebook, and pencils (grey lead and coloured), as well as the 'inanimate object' that you chose last week.

Task 1: Let's find out a little more about your character. Complete a profile about your chosen inanimate object 'character'.

Use the sheet below to help organize your ideas (you can print the sheet or copy the headings onto a piece of paper).

Task 2: Look on the internet/ YouTube to see if you can find other examples of characters which are inanimate objects that come to life- try not to use examples from Toy Story or Beauty and the Beast. Make a list of the ones you come up with.

Task 3: Use one of the clips from last week’s lesson (or another one that you find) and have a go at mimicking (copying) the voice of one of the characters.

Grade 4 - CINEMATOGRPAHY

Grade 6 - SPECIAL FX & STAGE MAKEUP

This term we will be looking at creating our own special effects makeup.  I have been having a go with the items I have at home in my cupboard!!!! It's been interesting!!!!!

This week I would like you to inquire into how Special FX/stage make-up has got to where it is today by looking at where, why and how it started.

Watch the video below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khxwq3UVlgY

If you don't want to listen to my voice after the welcome back section then all the instructions I explain on the screen will be on Google classroom too but without the images.

Create a document/presentation (of your choice) that explains and shows information about the different types of stage make-up throughout time.

You DO NOT need to upload this info to Google Classroom yet, but will require it later in the term for your digital portfolio!

Next 2-4 weeks you will need:  White glue, toilet paper/tissue,  fake blood (I will give a tutorial on how to make it at home if you can't get any), paintbrush/cotton buds.

For scar wax you will need: Plain flour and Vaseline.

For making fake blood you will need: cocoa (yes cocoa), red food colouring, white glue, coffee and flour and a couple of pots for storing.
