Well Cultured

In Week 8 The Lakes South Morang P-9 school celebrated Cultural Diversity Week where we paid tribute to the different cultures that make up our school. Students on both EY and MY celebrated by participating in multicultural activities throughout the week.

The Prep to Four students also celebrated by having a special Cultural Diversity Assembly where students dressed up in clothes which represented their culture and performed multicultural songs.

Here is what some Year 4 students had to say about what cultural diversity means to them:

Cultural Diversity week is all about celebrating the different cultures in our community. We have many different cultures that make up our community, especially in our school. Other cultures help us by introducing us to different foods, clothing, personalities and holidays. I am part Italian and part Scottish where the men wear kilts and play bagpipes. Brock Year 4

Cultural diversity week is about people having different cultures. It does not matter where you come from or what you look like. Everyone is welcome in our school. I am from many different cultures such as Malaysian, Scottish and Romanian. If we were all the same, life would be pretty boring. We are all different in our own ways. That is what makes us special…… and awesome!  Mia Year 4

Cultural diversity week we shared things about our culture and heritage. We made postcards and created displays. It was an amazing week. I love listening and learning all about the different cultures.
