Our "Creek-tastic" Adventure

The Year 3 students found out how we all can help our waterways. Ben and Hansikaa explain how:

Woah, woah, woah, what do you think you are doing? Don’t litter……. it might go in the creek and animals could die, do you really want that to happen? No, we didn’t think you would.

We are here to tell you why! On the 27th February the Year Three’s participated in an incursion with the Darebin Creek Catchment Program. We learnt about the Darebin Creek and information about what makes the creek dirty. We also went out to the creek with our litter tongs and recyclable bags and cleaned the creek. Everyone that helped got a super fantastic surprise.

You want to know what it is? It was saving an animals’ life!! You would want to be careful because if you go shopping and you leave the trolley out, it could end up in the creek! Some of the things we found in the creek were chip packets, bottles, bags, wrappers, trollies and more.

We would like to thank the people from the Darebin Creek Catchment Program for coming to our school and helping us understand more about our local environment. We learnt so much and definitely are better at keeping our school clean and safe.
