News from our Classrooms

Foundation News

Welcome to the students and their families that began school last Friday in Foundation LW. It was a very special day for everyone and considering the hot weather all of the students and the parents did very well on their first day of school!

I really enjoyed meeting up again with Max, Addison, Gus, Juliano, Felix, Jackson, Leon, Skyler, Elizabeth, Jeevan, Alexander, Darius, Isaac, Harrison, Paddy, Hazel, Clara, Jasmine, Madalen, Chrysi, Nefeli and Chelsea after spending time together at our transition to school program which was held last year.

Please note that during Week 2 beginning February 3rd, the Foundation students will finish school at 1pm.

Lunches will be eaten before going home this week, so please remember to include a sandwich or whatever your child likes to eat at lunchtime as well as something for “Brain Food” and Recess.

The students will not attend school on Wednesdays during the month of February, but they will be scheduled to complete some Literacy and Numeracy testing on their days off. I will send home details of your child’s testing times. Full days at school apart from Wednesday 12th, 19th and 26th February will begin on Monday February 10th.

Parents and grandparents are always welcome to visit the classroom before school each day. I am really looking forward to a wonderful 2020 getting to know and teach such a beautiful group of students.

Let the learning and fun begin in Foundation LW!

Year 1/2 News

Welcome back students, parents and friends. What a great start to Term 1.

The students have been very excited to see their friends and talk about the holidays.  They have settled into class routines very well and they are revisiting the school agreed ways. The students have expressed their feelings about starting a new year, making new friends and learning new things. They have been learning about what makes a good classroom and a good friend. The students have been playing various games to get to know each other.

We teachers are also very excited to have started the year with your wonderful children.

Year 3/4 News

From the 2020 Year 3/4 level team; a big welcome to all of the Year 3 and 4 students and families! Students have settled really well and they have already shown responsible cooperation to create fantastic learning spaces.

Routines and expectations are being investigated in these first couple of weeks, with new experiences and friendships blossoming too. In each of our classrooms we have been getting to know each other as a person and as learners. We have also unpacked the School Agreed Ways with the students to ensure that we all understand what this looks and sounds like at St. Fidelis school and the expectations for positive behaviour.

The Year 3/4 students have returned back to school with enthusiasm, positivity and they are ready for yet another exciting and successful year of  learning.

We look forward to your continued support in what will be a wonderful year ahead!

Year 5/6 News

Welcome back to all Year 5/6 families to another school year.

The students have settled in really well and have made a positive start. Each class has spent time reviewing the school's agreed ways and have discussed ways in which they can follow them to create a safe and supportive school environment.

Students have had the opportunity to find out more about their classmates and teacher and all students have had the chance to sign up and be part of the Inter-school sport program.

This Friday morning the school leaders will be introduced to the whole school community and be presented with their badges. We encourage you to attend this assembly and all school assemblies if you are able.

All Year 5/6 students will be required to wear their school PE uniform on a Wednesday and Friday.

We look forward to working with you and your child this year.
