Assistant Principal - Learning

Now, is the winter of education’s discontent.

As we emerge from the crisis of pandemic,

light shines brightly on our thinking of learning.

Be gone the antiquated days of industrial uniformity and dependence.

Lay buried the transfer of non-contextualised content, and measured regurgitation.

Usurped by the bounteous wonders of online connectivity,

our classrooms of desk rows, whiteboards, textbooks

lay battered, tattered.

They may be anachronistically relevant,

most definitely contemporarily void.

Change, exigent change, is nigh.

To shun or grasp it?

Do we, slip insidiously rearwards,

pulled back by the ease and comforts of old familiar ways.

But to breed contempt; to enculturate stasis,

is no way to fright the complacent adversary.

Prosper instead, creativity, innovation, equity and evolution.

Take delight in future-forward thinking, doing. Learning.

Therefore, since we cannot turn back we must forge onwards.

Determined to make better through partnership, feedback and community -

A sustainable system for generations to come -

Founded on faith; focused on learning.
