IGSSA Head of the River
Wow what a weekend to be a John XXIII College rower!
What an amazing weekend we had with our girls rowing squad at the 2019 IGSSA WA Head of the River. Congratulations to all the girls for representing John XXIII proudly on Saturday.
Although some results might not have been what the crews were hoping for, it was so amazing to see all our rowers racing as hard as they could to the finish line. Every single rower showed a high level of perseverance and determination to the final stroke.
A special mention of our 2019 Captain of Boats, Olivia Torre taking out the Single Scull consistency pennant for the second year in a row and to our Year 9 girls who performed so well across all races at their first Head of the River. It was so great to see as all Year 9s took the day in their stride with very little stress. The results of our Freshman A eight, Freshman A & B quads were testament to the hard work the whole squad of Year 9s put in across the season.
It is great to note the win in the Freshman A eight is the first time JTC has won an eight’s race at Head of the River since 1993.

House Regatta
On Sunday June 30, our Rowing community came together to culminate the Year 8 rowing season at our annual House regatta.
Over the course of the morning every Year 8 rower got to row with the Year 9-12 rowers from their house in several 150m races. At the conclusion of the racing parents and siblings were invited to try rowing.
In some wet conditions it was great to see all the rowing family embracing our Year 8s into the group, with Campion emerging as victors for the 2019 House Regatta.
