Pastoral Care News

Once again, students, their families and staff from MCC have demonstrated compassion and care for others within their community by responding to our request for donations to create our “I Care Kits”. On behalf of the recipients and the C.A.T members I thank you all for your kindness and generosity. We have created 30 kits and have a box or surplus items which will be presented to representatives from Linking Community Networks at next Wednesday’s morning briefing.

This community organisation manages both the women’s refuge and the youth refuge (known as Youth Links). Statistics show that domestic violence and the breakdown of family relationships are the major contributing factor to homelessness. Our gift hopefully reminds the recipient that they are important, are valued and most of all; they matter. Each kit contains a short message which reinforces these key points and shows that there are many people within our community who care.

This year, we once again placed our kits in bags from the “Cotton On”. The Cotton on Foundation is a philanthropic division of the business, dedicated to empowering youth globally. They acknowledge that quality education is critical to ending extreme global poverty. A percentage of the purchase price is directly used to build schools in disadvantaged communities and work directly with communities in need, delivering quality education projects in Uganda, South Africa, Thailand and Australia.

We have invited representatives from our local store to Wednesday’s presentation to give us a better insight into their work and how our financial contribution supports those in need.

With the sudden burst of cold weather many students are wearing additional jackets, scarves and jumpers. Please take the time over the weekend to check that your child’s clothing is clearly marked, ensuring items can be returned to their rightful owner if misplaced. We still have a range of quality winter uniform items available so please do not hesitate to contact me if you require assistance.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, stay warm and stay safe.

Regards
