Mock Trial 1 for year 11 Legal Studies April 2019

Last Friday was year 11 Legal Studies’ final trial for the 2019 season of the NSW Mock Trial Competition. 165 schools have been taking part in pretend trials in courtrooms and meeting rooms around the state to qualify for the final 64 knockout round. MCC placed 121st in a highly competitive round robin series. Roles include barrister, solicitor, witness and magistrate’s clerk. In a tense and challenging atmosphere in real courtrooms, students must prepare a case, present arguments before the magistrate and examine and cross-examine various witnesses. The magistrate then decides whether the accused is guilty or not-guilty and evaluates the students on their performances. Congratulations go to all students who participated this year, especially in light of their markedly improved scoring results (50% rise from Round 1 to Round 4). Further thanks goes to David Davidge from David Davidge Solicitors for his generous and wise counsel in supporting the students’ recent case. A final congratulations also to the 2 schools from Riverina Region who have progressed to the knockout round:The Riverina Anglican College (Wagga Wagga) and The Scots College, Albury.

Ancient Egypt

Year 7 HSIE studied Ancient Egypt this term. The assessment was based on creating an artefact replica. Along with this, students wrote a summary and presented their artefact to the class.

Mrs Munro’s class created beautiful artefacts which they presented bravely to the class :)

An excellent effort and so proud of the student's creativity and application. Well done!

Year 10 News

On Monday the 17th and Tuesday the 18th of June, all of year 10 took part in mock job interviews hosted by Rotarians from Griffith Avanti. We thank the Rotarians for giving up there time so the students could have the opportunity to build confidence in taking part in a job interview. The students will receive written feedback on strengths, and areas they can further develop to ensure strong communication skills.
