2019 Training Awards

Last night 2 of our year 12 students attended the 2019 Training Awards for the Riverina Region in Wagga Wagga. Shanuille Parsa (Business Services) and Caitlin Chant (Animal Studies) submitted their applications in March and, following several interviews, were both selected as one of 4 finalists for the Riverina region in their respective areas. The Training Awards cover all Vocational Education Training (VET) courses, conducted by TAFE or an equivalent training organisation such as our school. Shanuille is close to completing her Certificate II Business and Caitlin’s school based apprenticeship has been with a local vet (the other kind!) plus a week of each holidays at Wagga TAFE. This is the third consecutive year Marian students have received this award. Sounds like a streak! There was a real buzz in the air as the teachers and parents could see the benefits a VET career pathway brings. Indeed the main speaker, Acting Prime Minister Michael McCormack, said he is the proud owner of 3 TAFE certificates. Congratulations to Caitlin and Shanuille for following their dreams with distinction!
