Production

Rehearsals have started for the GEC 2018 Production of Little Shop of Horrors, an enthralling sci-fi horror musical with an electrifying and catchy 1960s pop / rock score.

Seymour Krelborn is a meek and dejected assistant at a floral shop who happens upon a strange plant, which he affectionately names “Audrey II” after his crush at the shop. Little does he know that this strange and unusual plant will develop a soulful R&B voice and an unquenchable thirst for HUMAN BLOOD.

As Audrey II grows bigger and meaner, the carnivorous plant promises limitless fame and fortune to Seymour, as long as he continues providing a fresh supply of blood. Just when it’s too late, Seymour discovers Audrey II’s extra-terrestrial origins and his true drive for world-domination.

More information about ticket sales will be available in term 2.

If there are any parents/carers who would like to help out with the performances e.g. with hair and make-up, props, costumes, filming the performances (or any of the other myriad jobs that goes into putting on a successful school production) please email our school production coordinator Mrs Sarah Mortimer - smo@gec.vic.edu.au

VSSS 2018

Glen Eira College again has the opportunity to be involved in the Mass Choir for the Victorian State School Spectacular in 2018.  The Spectacular includes a cast of over 3000 Victorian government school students, working towards a common goal in a collaborative, competition-free environment. Its dual aims are to provide an invaluable performing arts opportunity for Victoria's government school students and to showcase the enormous talent that exists in our schools. This all comes together in a 2-3 hour scripted show that celebrates a diversity of performance mediums, including choir, dance, vocal, drama, and a live orchestra.

Students who participate in the Victorian State Schools Spectacular are provided with a unique opportunity to work with internationally renowned industry professionals across all disciplines, as well as the amazing experience of performing live in front of thousands of people, whilst also being broadcast on national television.

There are also a number of other talented GEC students who have already applied, auditioned and been accepted into the PAU Choir as well as the Orchestra – congratulations!
