Welcome to 2020!

Welcome to 2020!

It has been great to see everyone eagerly returning after the summer break and hard to believe we are already 2 weeks down! I am sure there will be some tired children at home this evening, particularly our new Preps who started this week.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all new families and hope you have enjoyed your start as a member of the ACS Community. I ask all existing families to please introduce yourselves and welcome our new members.

We also have a number of new staff working across the school (most of whom were introduced via our Facebook page last year) and it has been amazing to not only see how well they have adjusted to their new work environment, but how quickly they have built positive relationships with students and staff.

It would be remiss of me not to acknowledge that our summer break saw many parts of our country in devastating situations. During this anguish and trauma, we have seen unbelievable efforts from firefighters, volunteers and individuals from around Australia and overseas support the firefighting efforts, communities and wildlife. In addition to this, we have seen extraordinary examples of generosity from the community, donating much needed items and funds to support the re-build and giving much needed medical attention to our national wildlife.

The resilience and strength of these individuals and associated communities is to be applauded. Whilst I am not aware of any ACS families directly impacted by these events, I know in some way, shape or form we are all impacted. Times like these make us reflect and appreciate the things ‘we have’ and as a school community it is an opportunity to think about the wonderful school community we have developed and will continue to build and grow together.

Here at Armstrong Creek School, our core values of Care, Collaboration and Commitment are the cornerstone of ‘who we are’ and ‘what we stand for’ as a school. These values are a major focus point throughout everything we do and I know that during our first two weeks, students, staff and even families have been discussing, learning about and modelling the behaviours associated with our values in everything they do.

Our school’s ‘Purpose Statement’ is something I want our school community to keep front of mind at all times and reflect on 'why we do we do' and 'what it means' to be a part of the ACS community.

Purpose Statement

At Armstrong Creek School we embrace challenge and celebrate diversity while pursuing an individual journey to personal excellence. Innovative learning and teaching is placed at the centre of all we do.

We design opportunities for students to achieve their personal best in a positive environment where they are inspired to learn, grow and thrive while demonstrating our school values of: Care, Collaboration and Commitment.

I am really excited for the year ahead and building on the strong foundations we have established in our first two years.  I looking forward to watching our students thrive, the community events and learning opportunities that arise throughout 2020.
