From the Principal & Assistant Principal

WELCOME BACK
Welcome back everyone. I hope you all enjoyed a lovely Easter break.
ANZAC DAY APPEAL
Each year we support the ANZAC Day appeal through the sale of ANZAC badges and wrist bands. Items are available from the office. Badges are $2 and $5, wristbands are $3 and bag tags are $4.
SUNSMART
Just a reminder that our Sunsmart policy stipulates that hats should be worn from 1 September to 30 April, so we are still enforcing our ‘no hat-sit in the shade’ rule until the end of the month.
CASUAL DRESS DAY
Our casual clothes day on the last day of term one raised $623.85 for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. Thank you everyone for your donations.
CAMPS
Next week our Year 5 students will be participating in a three day camp near Ballarat. They will be undertaking many activities both at Sovereign Hill and the camp site.
This will be a great opportunity for students to interact with peers and teachers and develop cooperation, collaboration and independence, in a unique learning environment.
In mid-May, our Year 3 and 4 students will be participating in a two day visit to Melbourne, which includes an overnight city stay! The two days in the city will enable the students to gain a thorough understanding of the way Melbourne has evolved over time as they visit a wide variety of places, and learn about Melbourne’s history. They will experience an easy introduction to ‘camping’ which will provide time away from family in a new environment, with a focus on fostering resilience, social development and accepting new challenges.
CSEF UNIFORM ASSISTANCE
As an extension of the Victorian Government’s Affordable School Uniform Program, State Schools’ Relief will now offer uniform support to all 2016 government school Preps who receive help from the Camps, Sports and Excursion Fund. Please see the attachment below.

YEAR 6/7 TRANSITION
Today the year 6 students received their secondary college information, which includes a parent letter and the official application form.
It is important to read all the information, complete the Application for Enrolment (Year 7) Form and return it to school by Friday 13 May 2016.
All students must complete this form whether attending an independent or state secondary school.
I would encourage families to attend secondary school information sessions which may help you decide on a preferred school.
If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to ask.
