Year 5/6
Magpie by Amani Dagher & Hudson Mann
In Year 5/6 the students have been looking at the work of contemporary Australian artists. Rosetta Santucci and Nikki Perzuk. We used a technique called reverse painting. We began by painting an abstract background, giving thought to colours and shapes. We added details, dots lines and colour blending. Next we looked at positive and negative space, we used chalk to block out the shapes we wanted to expose, then carefully painted around the chalk. Finally we used water to take away the chalk and reveal our image. Well done, this was a lengthy process with lots to think about.
The Year 5/6 students began by creating a background using natural paintbrushes. They selected materials and created a unique paintbrush which they used to apply coloured dye to paper. They made sketches of Magpies using oil pastels. Once they were happy with their sketch they transferred the image onto their background. They really do look fantastic, well done.
The Year 5/6 Students began by creating an armature using foil and tape. Using Modroc they covered the armature to create the top half of the bird. They painted the Modroc and added further details and feathers. A fun and rather messy process but the results are amazing. Well done.
There is nothing more Australian than thongs, come summer or winter you can still find someone in a pair. The 5/6 students created designs for their own pair of thongs. The students transferred their design onto a pair of thongs. They used Posca paint markers and Sharpies to add colour.
They look amazing, well done everyone.
