Sustainability

Thank you Bunnings:

While most of our school were at home and the community was adhering to the restrictions during Term 3, Bunnings Delacombe have continued with their fabulous support of our garden and sustainability initiatives.

During Term 3, Bunnings have donated the following items that have been shared between our two campuses:

  • Watering cans
  • Plants and seeds for our veggie patches
  • Wheel barrows
  • Plant food
  • Greenhouse
  • Shovels
  • Pruners

Once again, we’d like to give a shout out to Leanne, the community team and Bunnings Delacombe for their continued support of our school!

Chook pen:

The chook pen has had a revamp in the last week to shelter them further and give them a clean and exciting new patch to scratch around.  The Grade 3 classes have spent some time with Simon learning how to further look after our chooks, pull up their sleeves to clean it up and hold our chooks.  It is wonderful to see happy chickens and students!

Natural Habitats:

Over remote learning, Ballarat City Council kindly delivered some logs for our grounds.  They have been put up the Cornish St end of the school to create some natural habitats for our wildlife.  We are hoping that as they take residence, they will become great places to spot minibeasts and further support our Grade 1 integrated science program.

Recycling:

We are continuing to support recycling practices at BPS this term.  We have paper recycling and soft plastic containers in our classrooms as well as curbside recycling bins in our school yard.  We encourage families to be mindful of single use plastics as you pack lunches each day.

Parents working at Coles/Safeway:

If there are any parents who work at Coles/Safeway and are interested in helping us with our Red Cycle mission, can you please get in touch with Claire Morris (claire.morris@education.vic.gov.au).
