School News

Welcome New Staff

We welcome Jackson Sainty back and Sarah Guilleaume to Malvern PS this term.  Jackson will be teaching 1CS and Sarah will be teaching Performing Arts for the remainder of the year.

Hats

All students must be wearing an appropriate hat at school during outside periods.  Please do not send your child to school with a cap or visor as these do not offer appropriate sun protection.  Hats are available from Bob Stewart.

Riding Bikes and Scooters to school

Students that ride bikes and scooters to school are required to wear an approved helmet in order to protect their head in the case of a fall.  Please check that your child has a helmet and that they wear the helmet when riding/scooting.

We have found we have had a significant increase in the number of students riding bikes and scooters to school this term.  As a result we will be making some changes to the storage of bikes and scooters – students will be informed as soon as our plans are finalised.

Planning for the 2021 School Year – Repeat Request

We are planning our staffing for 2021 and need accurate student numbers to ensure we have the right number of staff.

If you know that your child will not be at Malvern Primary School in 2021 please let Robyn James know in writing, at robyn.james@education.vic.gov.au, as soon as possible. Please do not leave it until Term 4. We realise that some families find this conversation difficult for a range of reasons, however it will be a huge assistance to us to know as soon as possible.

Grade Placements for 2021

Within the next month or so staff will begin the process of allocating our students to their grades for 2021. This is an extremely complex process where staff use their knowledge of the students to ensure the placements are successful for all concerned. If parents have requests regarding the placement of their children (social and emotional considerations) could they please put these in writing and forward them to Robyn James by 4.00pm Monday the 9th November, emails to robyn.james@education.vic.gov.au are preferred. Verbal requests will not be considered.

Parents are advised that not all requests can necessarily be met, however where possible we will take the requests into account.

Parents are asked not to request a certain teacher for their child as the decision of staff placement is a separate and equally complex process and final decisions on staff placement for next year have not yet been made.

Any request made after the 9th November may not be able to be considered.

Melbourne Cup Day

Tuesday 3rd November is a public holiday for Melbourne Cup Day and therefore the school will be closed. Monday 2nd November is a normal school day; we will be operating as usual.
