Stem in Secondary

With Mr Mitch Akers

WHAT'S NEW IN STEM

The STEM faculty has recently sought funding from several parties to purchase a brand new 3D printer. Through a funding collaboration between Molong Central School’s STEM faculty, Molong Central School’s P&C Committee and Orange District Office and Department of Education STEM, enough money was raised to purchase a brand new Ultimaker S3.

The Year 12 Industrial Technology Metal class and Mr Akers have worked hard to make a suitable enclosure to keep the school’s 3D printers in. This enclosure has been designed to control the printing environment which will help to reduce printing failures.

A big thank you to all our donors and everyone who helped get this initiative off the ground, particularly Mrs Lapins and the P&C Committee members, Matt Scott of the Orange District Office and the STEM faculty. It is great everyone united to fund such an impressive machine, which will surely clock up some work hours before the end of the school year. Also a big thank you to the Year 12 Metal class (Alex Cremona, Jake Murray, Jack Thomas and Myles Madden) and Mr Akers for building the printer enclosure.
