"Many Wolves .... One Pack"

TERM 1 - WEEK 8

To the St Nicholas School Community

Regional Lifestyle Magazine’s Autumn Edition for 2022 has a 100 page feature of our wonderful city, Tamworth. Along with highlighting a number of our parents' wonderful businesses, the feature includes a 2 page spread on St Nicholas Primary School.

We should be particularly proud that such a respected magazine reached out to us, determined to be associated with our school. St Nicholas Primary School is highly viewed in our local community, and with commitment to continued and sustainable improvement, it is rightfully regarded as an educator of choice for the Tamworth district.

Support for our flood affected neighbours

The generosity of our School Community never ceases to amaze! Last Friday, our families raised over $2100 which will go directly towards those affected by the severe floods in the Diocese of Lismore. Thank you!

One donation certainly caught my eye.  $50 was donated by the Lion Bus driver. In thanking this driver, I also want to acknowledge and thank all St Nicholas School children who act respectfully and safely while travelling on a school bus - you are being noticed by others. Well done!

Science and Engineering Day

Today approximately 30 of our Year 5 and Year 6 students attended a Science and Engineering Challenge at the TRECC. This was a wonderful opportunity for these students and an example of St Nicholas’ commitment to a well rounded education.

Keep an eye out in next week's newsletter for a short highlights video.

Green Day & Art Competition

St Nicholas School will be a hive of activity tomorrow with Green Day and our Art Competition Display. It will be wonderful to welcome our parents onsite to enjoy these wonderful activities. Please click on the link for a timetable of the day's events.

An enormous thank you to Year 6 and Mrs Amy Henry for their preparation and coordination of Green Day and the Art Competition respectively. Keep an eye out in next week's newsletter for highlight videos  of both events.

PM Testing

Over the last two weeks, significant assessments in student reading have taken place as our staff track progress and target the next round of learning leaps for our students' reading. Our reading culture continues to grow at St Nicholas and we can be proud of the wonderful learning our students are experiencing.

Guided Furniture

St Nicholas' commitment to a reading culture continues to be reflected in our school budget with the purchase of additional resources to support quality teaching and learning of reading. This week we received delivery of an additional 13 intensive support tables, which will be used by our intervention teams to ensure consistency of delivery and enable quality practice.

2023 Kindergarten enrolment applications: Closing date Friday 8th April 2022

As per communication distributed to St Nicholas School families through our Compass Portal on Wednesday 16th March, applications for Kindergarten in 2023 close on the final day of Term 1, Friday 8th April 2022.

Current families will be guaranteed enrolment if their application is received by Friday 8th April. However, current families who have not submitted their enrolment application by the closing date, will lose their priority and face the very real prospect of missing out.

Please communicate to family, friends and colleagues the importance of having their 2023 Kinder Enrolment Application in by Friday 8th April.

Have a wonderful week!

John Clery
