Monash Information Evenings are back for 2022! Students and parents can find out everything they need to know about studying at Monash including study areas; international opportunities, scholarships, entry and pathway schemes and accommodation options. Girl Power in Engineering and IT Program for Year 9 Students
Do you have a passion for Science, Mathematics and IT and are currently in Year 9? The University of Melbourne has requested Killester College to nominate two students to take part in the Girl Power program for 2022 and we would like to offer you all the chance to apply. More information about the program is below:
The Girl Power Program, Commencing in Year 9, where approximately 40 students are selected to participate in the camp during the July term holidays (Sunday 3 July to Wednesday 6 July) where they will have the opportunity to:
- Learn about careers in engineering and IT
- Participate in hands-on interactive workshops
- Interact with University of Melbourne engineering and IT students
- Hear from industry and our academic staff about engineering and IT issues
- Form a network of like-minded individuals
If you are interested, please go to this link to sign up for this wonderful opportunity. Students are required to make an application by completing required questions/ selection criteria. ALL written responses must be printed and handed to either Ms Brunt, Ms Anderson or your Homeroom teacher by Tuesday March 15. A panel of teachers will read through your applications and also look at your Year 7 & 8 Mathematics and Science results. Two students will then be nominated to participate.

Year 10 'Dare to Dream' week
All Year 10's will be participating in a Careers and Pathways focused week titled 'Dare to Dream' on Tuesday March 15th, Wednesday March 16th and Thursday March 17th. Several events are scheduled including 'Fashionista Sistas', 'Women in Advertising with Thinkerbell Creative', Networking with 'Arrive & Thrive' and 'Pathways in Focus with Killester Alumni'. Students are encouraged to dress for an interview on Thursday March 17th as they will be involved in a mock interview. Neat attire is suggested. All Year 10's will complete a Morrisby Profile which will be used in July as a starting point for Year 11 subject selections. Parents should have received an EdSmart communication outlining the outcomes and plan of the week.
ANU 2023 Direct Applications and Tuckwell Scholarship
Applications are open for Year 12 students who are planning to study at ANU in Canberra during 2023 and are anticipating a very high ATAR of 95+. To apply to commence study at ANU on a Tuckwell Scholarship in 2022, you must:
- Complete and submit the ANU Direct Application as soon as possible and before Wednesday, 6 April 2022 (11.59PM AEDT); AND
- Complete and submit the Tuckwell Scholarship Stage 1 Application Form as soon as possible and before Sunday, 10 April 2022 (11.59PM AEDT).
The ANU Direct Application will ask if you wish to apply for a Tuckwell Scholarship to which you must answer “yes” if you wish to apply. Within two business days of you submitting your ANU Direct Application, you will be invited to the Tuckwell Scholarship Stage 1 Application Form via email. The sooner you submit your ANU Direct Application, the sooner you can access the Tuckwell Scholarship Stage 1 Application Form.

RMIT University Design Bytes for Year 12 Students
On the 21st of April, Design Bytes will be held at RMIT's famous theatre, The Capitol, 113 Swanston Street.Students will hear from a panel of industry designers about their insights and tips for students preparing to study a design program.

Design Bytes provides students with an opportunity to hear from a panel of leading design professionals. From different design fields, the designers will showcase their work and discuss ways in which design shapes the world around us. Our panel of designers will also talk to students about a design brief, their career and experience in industry and discuss their transition from secondary school to tertiary level education.
All students who register to attend must sign and return the following consent form, also located on the Eventbrite Design Bytes page. They can return the form to us via snap@rmit.edu.au.
