Latest News and Reminders
Hello to everyone,
Can parents please note that on Tuesday April 5th students will finish school at 2.45pm in order for staff to have preparation time for the Parent/Student/Teacher Learning Conversations, which commence at 3.30pm. These meetings will continue from 12.00pm until 8.00pm on Wednesday April 6 - a day of no classes for students. Details regarding bookings via PTOnline will be sent soon.
Next week will be the Year 11 and 12 Retreats (Wednesday to Friday) and the Year 10 Dare To Dream week (Tuesday to Friday). This week the Year 7s headed off to camp at Phillip Island and we look forward to their stories of the adventure when they return.
Raffle tickets for the Easter Raffle have been given to all students. These are due back on March 29 please to Homeroom teachers. We are gratefully accepting the donation of Easter Eggs until Monday April 4th. Term 2 concludes at 3.00pm on Friday 8th April.
We have a Year 12 student looking for an English tutor. Please contact me at the College or email me at lcannon@killester.vic.edu.au for further details.
We continue to forge a wonderful relationship with the Greater Dandenong Council and Springvale Town Hall / Hub. On Tuesday we enjoyed a free breakfast for International Women's Day. With over a hundred people in attendance, we welcomed the words of the guest speaker, Sr Brigid Arthur, from the Brigidine Asylum Seekers Project (BASP), which is one of the charities that Killester supports. Brigid spoke of the strength of many women who she has known in her family and in the broader refuge community. The wonderful MCs were Mandy, Acacia and Sienna Quinn, who responded to Brigid's address with words of encouragement to young women and a challenge to all of us "to teach our fathers, sons, husbands, uncles, nephews, friends ... to recognise the need to 'break the bias' in all the facets of life and work."
Best wishes for the coming week.

LEARN TO SPEAK ENGLISH WHILE YOU MAKE NEW FRIENDS
Are you too shy to talk to people because you cannot speak English very well? Well you can improve your English because Killester College runs a ‘Conversational English Class for adults’ every Monday morning at 9.30am till 11.30am during school term, for parents, family members and friends. Classes are fun, where you are safe to try your new language skills in a friendly place. You will learn words that you may use everyday while at the same time make new friends who will encourage you to talk in English. We also talk about things that are happening in our community.
We would love you to join us to help improve your English and at the same time have lots of fun. Mondays 9.30am - 11.30am in the Family Learning Centre at Killester College. Please contact Loreto Cannon at the College or via email at lcannon@killester.vic.edu.au to book. We hope to see you there.

Front Office Reminders
LEAVING EARLY – If your daughter is leaving school early for any reason, please make sure she has a signed note from Parent/Guardian to give to her Homeroom Teacher in the morning. Your daughter needs to then bring that signed note with her to the Front Office at the time of her departure. It is your daughter’s responsibility to come to the office at the time arranged for pick up. Students are NOT PERMITTED to make their own way home or to an appointment. A Parent or Guardian MUST come into the front office to pick up the student. Students are asked NOT to make contact with Parents/Guardians directly via their mobile phone, to arrange to go home while at school as use of their mobile phone is not permitted. This contact will be made by Front Office or teaching staff.
LATE TO SCHOOL – Please make sure your daughter signs in at the Front Office if she is late to school. If she does not sign in at the Front Office you will receive an SMS asking to explain her absence.
ABSENCES – If your daughter is going to be absent from school for any reason please make sure you ring the Front Office to inform them, preferably before 9.00 am. The Front Office staff will then mark your daughter’s roll accordingly so you do not receive an SMS.
