P to the E with Leigh

The foundation students have been settling into lessons focused on their underarm throwing skills. We have started with a tennis ball and worked our way up to a larger ball. P.M.P Perceptual Motor Program has started on Wednesday mornings and is designed to help the children improve their balance and basic gymnastic skills. The children are three weeks into an eight week program which will include the 1/2s in second term. The 1/2s have also been working on their catching and throwing skills and beginning to play more games together as a class.

The focus for the 3/4s has been to work on their fitness in general and completing a unit on softball. We have recorded a modified beep test and will now compare that with the end of the year and look to see if they have improved. The students now understand the basics of softball which translates to rounders, baseball and kickball games.

The 5/6s are three weeks into their inter school sports and this will continue through to the end of the term. They have also completed a unit on softball with a coach and have been playing a modified game called Fully Loaded, it allows all of the students to participate getting more opportunities to bat and score runs.

The 5/6s will be looking forward to second term where they will begin to start training for Winter Sports. Netball, Soccer, Football. This year we are trailing a Gala Day were we play all the games in one day.

The 5/6 students have also had some coaches from the local lacrosse team at Brunswick come and spend some time introducing the students to the game. Anyone interested in joining and learning how to play Lacrosse at the Brunswick club can see me and I will give you a flyer and details.

Thanks Leigh
