Year 4/5/6—Celebrating Learning

4/5/6 - Mainstream

Students in 4/5/6 have been learning about fractions through folding paper and building fraction walls to identify equivalence. They have also been working on using this knowledge to add and subtract fractions with common and uncommon denominators.

5/6S - Steiner

We’ve bean studying “Gardening and Horticulture”

This past month the class has focused on growing beans and looking into the garden. As we work on our own plant journals we have had the experience of testing different soils for plant growth. To some success the plants have begun to sprout and the students have enjoyed taking care of them. Below are some photos of the students work in their Main Lesson Books, as well as some photos of our indoor greenhouse.

We also have observed the plants in our garden as well creating artistic renders of these observations. Here are some pictures of them busily sketching, and some student thoughts on the Main Lesson.

Annabelle says “It’s very interesting learning about how beans grow and I have enjoyed watching mine as it has gotten larger.”

Floyd says “I like watching the beans grow and had fun making my illustrations.”
