Foundation–Celebrating Learning

Foundation - Mainstream

Foundation students have been continuing to work with each other during developmental play. We have been developing our resilience, perseverance and mutual respect by practicing the deadly values of ‘I keep trying’, ‘I look after the school and other people's things’ and ‘I am kind.

As writers we have been documenting our ideas using picture and letter clues for anyone who will read our work.

As readers we have started our home reading program. We have also been thinking as we read and connecting letters to their most common sounds.

In maths we are recognising the days of the week, carefully counting small collections and learning to form numerals.

Foundation - Steiner

For the past 2 weeks we have been looking at storytelling, particularly retelling teacher stories with props and drawing pictures based on the stories we have heard. We have also been looking at numbers 1 - 10 and making patterns.

We have been exploring our playful and creative side during inside play with cubby building, stick weaving and more storytelling. The reverence we have been experiencing during afternoon painting has been a joy to watch.

PMP Term One

This term Leigh and our Foundation teacher have begun our Perceptual Motor Program (PMP).   Each week our students participate in a variety of physical activities that help balance, coordination, locomotion, eye tracking, turn taking and focus.  We are so grateful and overwhelmed by the level of parent/carer volunteers coming in each week to support the program.
