Wellbeing

All students attending St Louis de Montfort's Aspendale have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.

Child Safety:

Child safety is of upmost importance to all educational staff.  Here at St Louis we have a child friendly Child Safe policy to help our students understand their rights and responsibilities around child safety.

Child Safety in the Carpark:

Can we remind parents in the carpark to please use the crossing when crossing to the school side after parking your car.  We have had a lot of young students crossing in the middle of the carpark as cars are going through and this is extremely dangerous.

Student Leadership:

Last Friday we had a special year level assembly to award our year six leadership teams with their badges and certificates.  On Monday afternoon we had our first leadership meeting with our teams and their mentor teachers.  We had lots of amazing ideas come from this about how we can improve our school.  Congratulations to all of our Year 6 students.

SRC:

Our SRC leaders from each class have had two meetings so far this year and have been able to feedback from their classes about any issues on the school yard and some even better if to make playtime a fun and engaging time.

Peer Support Leaders:

Our Wellbeing team has kicked off our peer support program on the yard. Our Peer Support Leaders support student’s positive experiences in the playground, building good relationships with their peers to support student wellbeing which builds a positive whole school culture. Peer support leaders work together collaboratively to solve authentic problems, facilitating cooperative play and creating positive connections with students on the yard.

As part of their role Peer Support Leaders;

  • are available to offer assistance with finding friends, seeking help and positive interactions in the playground
  • show empathy and support for others
  • model the development of positive, caring and compassionate relationships that build connectedness amongst students.
