Learning and Teaching

All students attending St Louis de Montfort's Aspendale have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.

The weeks continue to roll by and more and more learning continues to take place.

This week we commenced our journey in the Review Process during our school closure day on Wednesday.  Our staff and members of the Melbourne Archdiocese of Catholic Schools joined us for the day. In teams we worked through four of the five spheres that provide us direction for our school moving forward. The four spheres focused on included 'Student Wellbeing, Religious Education Dimension, School Community and Learning and Teaching.'

The Learning and Teaching rubric is the umbrella for all that we do. There was a lot of robust discussion related to plotting ourselves on the rubric and determining next steps.

Currently our main goals include:

Priority One - Professional learning: Full Flourishing

Goal: To redesign a culture of learning.

Priority Two Quality Teaching - Realising one’s unique potential

Goals: To ensure quality teachers and practice is in every classroom.

To foster inclusive practices which respond to learning diversity so that all students are positively engaged in learning.

Priority 3 - Focus on the Student - The child at heart

Goal: To ensure all members of our learning community are empowered, engaged and connected.

Our Leadership team is also part of the School Wide Improvement Forum. This is a network that provides professional learning in Educational best practice. Each school creates one learning and teaching goal that provides a specific focus in English or Mathematics. Our S.W.I.F. goal for this year is:

To use current research and evidence based pedagogies, in the area of Mathematics, to build student engagement and develop expert teacher practices.
